My Dog, M.D.

There has been some pretty interesting news today. First there's a study showing dogs may sniff out lung cancer and another study showing dogs may anticipate migraines in their owners. Plus, there are more reasons to be a dog owner:

a) people with dogs tend to exercise more, because they have to take their dogs on regular walks

b) couples with dogs tend to fight less. Apparently when couples see the dog get upset, they tend to calm down their arguments.

c) dog companions lead to less depression and loneliness.

So, why not adopt a dog today?

Four - NOT Seven - the Most the Mind can Grasp at a Time

This re-analysis of the original research concludes that the most items that the mind can handle at one time is FOUR and NOT SEVEN as previously reported. Read the article here: Four is the 'magic' number

COMMENT: this is an interesting idea, and embracing the conclusion may help with memory. Instead of chunking together 7 items at a time, our memory may work better by when we think of data in groups of 4 instead of groups of 7.
